Kesha shares her weight loss surgery testimonial following treatment at our Dallas office (North Texas Bariatric & General Surgery, P.A.).
KESHA: My name is Kesha, I had the gastric sleeve, vertical sleeve gastrectomy, VSG, there's lots of different names for it. But I chose that because I just was unhappy with the way my life was going, and the way I was feeling, and I was too young to feel like that. So I did some research and looked at lots of different doctors in the area, and I found Dr. Veninga. The procedure was done laparoscopicly. Dr. Veninga, he's very this is what it's going to be, this is what you can expect, and it pretty much went by the book. I had a very easy recovery. What I like about the gastric sleeve is that there wasn't any rerouting of my intestine. My post-operative pain was very minimal. I took my pain meds, maybe two days. My recovery was great. Everything has been great. The reason that I finally chose to do something about it was my son. He was two years old and I opened the door and he just bolted out of the house. I was trying to run after him but I couldn’t catch him because I was just so tired and I was just so winded. It just scared me. In that moment, that something could happen to my son, and I couldn’t get to him, you know? And that was the turning moment for me that made me decide to get surgery. My highest weight was 350 plus easily. I've lost at least 150 pounds in 18 months. When I look at the girl before surgery, she just wasn't happy, you know, not a really whole bunch of life in her and now I do everything and anything, and I'm a better mom, a better wife, just a better person all around. My son asked me at 6:00 mommy, let's go to the park. Boom, we're going to get up, we're going to go to the park. My husband, he's a little friskier, and what woman doesn't want her husband to tell her that she's beautiful? He did it before, that's one thing I can say, he never made me feel bad about the extra weight I was carrying, but he likes this a lot better. My parents are happy, they're just so supportive. I'm happy, and my kid, he's got a mom that will be there at the PTA meetings, because she's not afraid of what people are going to say to him about his mom. I'm just so, so very grateful that I got this sleeve with Dr. Veninga. I would absolutely do it again, I absolutely would.
