Shortly after bariatric surgery at our practice serving the greater Dallas area (North Texas Bariatric & General Surgery, P.A.), daily activities can resume.
FEMALE VOICE: In most cases you will go home the day after surgery. As soon as you can drink water, urinate and walk you are able to go home, providing there is no evidence of medical issues. If you take medications you will take only one tablet at a time with a sip of water. Dietary recommendations are to take approximately 70 grams of protein per day and 64 ounces of liquid. We ask you to call the office the day after surgery to schedule a one week appointment with us, so we can check your incisions and discuss your intake and be certain there are no surgical related problems. FEMALE VOICE 1: Initially, like with any surgery, you will have some physical limitations. Depending on the requirements of your job, you may return to work within one to two weeks after surgery. You may not lift more than 10-15 pounds. On the third and fourth week after surgery you may return to your regular routine and enjoy your life.
