FEMALE VOICE: In order to be a candidate for weight loss surgery you must be 18 years of age or older, you must be morbidly obese and have had trouble losing weight and keeping weight off in the past, you must have a BMI of 40 or above or a BMI of 35 and above with one of the following comorbidities. The five major comorbidities are type II diabetes, dyslipidemia, hypertension, obstructive sleep apnea and arthritis of the weight bearing joints. If you're willing to make significant change in your eating habits and you meet all of the criteria, you are a candidate for bariatric surgery.
