Meet Our Bariatric Surgeon – Dr. Frank Veninga
Dr. Frank Veninga is a bariatric surgeon who gives Dallas, Plano, and Lewisville residents the power to take control of their eating so that they can lead healthy, normal lives. Our skilled surgeon established his practice in 1987, attended his first bariatric courses and American Society of Bariatric Surgeons (ASBS) meetings in 1999, and began performing bariatric surgery in 2000. Dr. Veninga has made a personal commitment to helping Texas residents who suffer from morbid obesity. He is a strong patient advocate who believes that bariatric surgery, patient education, and lifestyle changes are the keys to helping patients overcome morbid obesity.
In recognition of Dr. Veninga's standing among his peers, D Magazine named him one of "The Best Doctors in Dallas 2007" in bariatric surgery. To determine the recipients of this honor, D Magazine sent letters to almost 4,300 local doctors asking them to vote on the magazine's website for the best doctor in Dallas in a number of disciplines. The poll's results were tallied by an outside firm and were reviewed prior to publication by esteemed Dallas-area physicians.
In addition to being an expert bariatric surgeon, Dr. Frank Veninga is an abdominal surgery specialist. He uses advanced laparoscopic techniques to reduce surgical trauma and speed patient recovery times. Dr. Veninga performs a full range of abdominal laparoscopic surgeries such as the intricate Nissen fundoplication and other laparoscopic procedures of the stomach, small bowel, colon, and gallbladder. He was fortunate to be a Surgical Endoscopy Fellow at Mt. Sinai Medical Center of Cleveland in 1989, and he still performs upper endoscopy. He intends to be among the first to provide new endoscopic therapies for morbid obesity such as intragastric balloon placement and endoscopic suturing and stapling.
Dr. Veninga is the proud father of four children. He is active in his community, and his favorite pastime is spending time with his family. We invite you to schedule a personal consultation with our dedicated bariatric surgeon. Dr. Veninga will meet with you to discuss your best options for treatment, and he will make sure that you fully understand protocols and procedures so that you can make the decision that is best for you.
